Thank you!
The Benzie Wellness and Aquatic Center is grateful to the Benzie Sunrise Rotary Foundation for continuing to assist our efforts and providing a $2,000 grant this spring to support our vital due diligence work as we assess the constructability of our project on the Crystal Lake Elementary School Parcel.
Benzie Central Schools partner with the Benzie Wellness and Aquatic Center for its future site
Option to purchase ageement
The Benzie County Central Schools Board of Education and the BWAC have agreed to terms of an Option to Purchase Agreement for the Crystal Lake Elementary School to become the future site of the BWAC's proposed year-round facility for the entire community.
A "home run site"
This site is located at a Benzie County gateway, with its only stoplight. It features unparalleled connectivity, as it is walkable to Beulah and Benzonia. Neighboring community resources include the Mills Community House, Academy Park and the Betsie Valley Trail.
Four season options
Our community deserves accessible year-round fitness, recreation and wellness options as well as social recration options. Many of our youth have never learned to swim despite being surrounded by beautiful lakes and beaches.
What's next?
Our approach
The BWAC's approach has been to identify unmet community needs, identify programs to meet those needs, creat a facility design to accommodate short-term and long-term program opportunities and select an accessible site that works for the design.
The BWAC has a talented and professional group of passionate leaders to manage a 90-day due diligence period to assess the constructibility of its proposed project on this site. Part of that process will include further engaging the community as our organization prepares for the design and costing phase that will follow the due diligence assessments.
